Role: Chemical Failure Mode Scientist
As a Chemical Failure Mode Scientist (CFMS) at Svante, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and performance of our core technologies. You will analyze data and collaborate with our characterization team and external partners to assess the chemical stability of our core technologies and its impact on process performance. Your expertise in material and chemical analysis, combined with your ability to effectively manage complex programs, will be critical to the success of this role.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive chemical lifetime program, working closely with other scientists (e.g., Mechanical Failure Mode Scientist) and specialists (e.g. Data Integration Specialist) to develop a thorough understanding of our core technologies lifetimes. You will support the optimization efforts of our sorbent, active material, structured adsorbent bed, and process teams, ensuring that our technologies deliver consistent, reliable results.
As the technical lead for our core technologies chemical degradation and failure, you must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with a large network of experts. Your ability to deliver results in a cooperative, team-focused manner using a Lean culture will be essential.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Assess and analyze Svante's core technologies chemical stability to identify potential failure modes and impact on process performance.
Develop, implement, and execute test plans and test methods in collaboration with the characterization team.
Analyze and manage all relevant data related to the chemical lifetime of Svante's core technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve chemical stability issues.
Prepare technical reports, and provide technical support and recommendations to R&D and Product teams to improve product quality and performance.
Key Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related fields.
A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in chemical analysis and failure mode analysis.
Proficiency in understanding the pathways and kinetics of degradation of organic and inorganic materials, and its application to product development and material selection.
Strong understanding of material properties and behavior.
Experience with various analytical characterization techniques such as TGA, DSC, DVS, XRD, SEM, EDS, IC, MS, FTIR, etc.
Knowledge in gas adsorption and separation an asset.
Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow rigorous laboratory testing protocols.
Safety-oriented with the ability to measure risks before acting.
