Jobs with Justice San Francisco is hiring a
Campaign Coordinator
Reports to: Workers Rights Program Director
Jobs with Justice San Francisco (JWJSF) is a long term, multi-racial alliance of labor unions and community groups supporting workers’ rights and fighting for economic, racial and gender justice. Our member groups represent service workers, domestic workers, healthcare workers, educators, city workers, seniors, people with disabilities, tenants, students and more. Our coalition connects people – workers, Black and Brown people, immigrants, queer and, gender-oppressed folks– to build collective power.
We believe as Audre Lorde said, there is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives_._ Working people need good jobs with dignity and a voice at work, quality and equitable public education, affordable housing and a liveable climate. We see economic, racial and gender justice as intersecting and necessary to each other. Our current program focuses on workers rights, housing justice and climate justice.
By building a strong multiracial and multi-issue alliance rooted in long-term relationships and solidarity, we have the power to win real systems change. Our victories in San Francisco include being among the first in the country to win a $15 minimum wage, tuition-free higher education program and fair scheduling laws for retail workers. With a history of precedent-setting innovation, we make real differences in people’s lives, build the power of workers and communities of color and spark movements nationwide.
Job purpose
The Campaign Coordinator develops and implements strategic coalition campaigns to advance workers rights and economic justice in San Francisco, with regional and statewide coordination and impact. The coordinator will be responsible for their own set of campaigns among those prioritized by the JwJSF coalition. Their organizational priorities will also include building power by strengthening solidarity between coalition organizations, member turnout and grassroots fundraising.
The coordinator is an integral part of a collaborative staff team that develops, plans, coordinates, and wins collective coalition campaigns. The coordinator contributes to the overall strategic direction of the coalition by supporting the coalition’s overall annual campaign planning processes, and providing direct insight into this process.
As part of a small team, it’s important that staff members are able to work collaboratively with good communication skills and with the flexibility to take on different projects in often fast-changing conditions. Being able to take initiative and work independently is also key.
The Director will supervise campaign coordinators working on workers rights, housing issues and internal power building and support their growth and development.
