Business Operations Analyst, Transportation Markets

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Transportation Markets team works to support meaningful pathways to reduce transportation emissions for a wide range of partners including corporations, utilities companies, 3rd party contractors, fleet operations, logistics providers, municipalities, public transportation agencies and more. 3Degrees helps clients understand the range of solutions and how to best leverage them to meet their unique business needs and sustainability goals.  We are seeking a highly detail oriented Business Analyst to focus on business process improvement, customer service excellence and cross functional, collaborative multi faceted projects to join our growing innovative, mission driven organization.

This is a full-time, non-exempt role reporting to the Director, Transportation Markets within the Environmental Markets division.  This position is located in our San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR office. Exceptional remote candidates may also be considered.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Business Analyst joins the Environmental Markets team which manages the environmental commodity business at 3Degrees.  This role supports the Director, Transportation Markets by ensuring regulatory reporting processes are completed accurately and on time and that commodity value is tracked and reported on accurately.  Position responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the onboarding of new partners within Transportation Markets

  • Oversee the reporting processes in each Clean Fuels Standard jurisdiction

  • Work with the Project Operations team to ensure data are received and processed timely

  • Work with the Trade Operations team to ensure deliveries and receipts are made timely

  • Ensure commodity value is tracked accurately

  • Track market prices to accurately price environmental commodities

  • Decide the best use of environmental commodities based on market conditions

  • Leverage a deep understanding of contractual relationships to calculate and report on commodity costs

  • Coordinate with the commodities traders to ensure portfolio positions and value are tracked accurately

  • Identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes

You have demonstrated experience efficiently supporting business processes with an eye for detail and a knack for extracting simplicity from the complex.  You are outcomes focussed and strive to exceed expectations. Your desire for excellence drives you to find new and innovative ways of doing things, and allows you to adapt as conditions change. Individuals with the following qualifications have an excellent opportunity to thrive in this position:

  • BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of professional experience and education
  • 2 - 3 years of professional experience in a similar role
  • An understanding of transportation commodities markets preferred
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment balancing competing demands toward mutual goals
  • Excellent presentation skills. Must be able to succinctly convey information to other team members
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure
  • Strong independent learning skills coupled with a successful track record of self-driven analytical investigations
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and diligent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, with a genuine desire to accelerate the growth of environmental markets in the US and abroad
  • Experience using SQL or Tableau is a plus

HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESS

Within 60 days

  • You clearly demonstrate an understanding of existing markets and commercial structures with an understanding of commodity flows and value creation

Within 120 days

  • You have taken responsibility for calculating commodities costs based on partner agreements and market conditions

Within 180 days

  • You are the primary owner of and decision maker for commodity flows within Transportation Markets

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Compensation: The minimum and maximum salary for this position is $55,873 - $84,000 in the US. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, role requirements, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise

  • Supplemental Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company’s profit sharing program and an annual team Bonus Pool.
