Business Development Manager

New Moms strengthens families by partnering with young moms as they progress toward housing stability, economic mobility, and family well-being. New Moms is a nonprofit organization with an $8 million budget and a staff of over 60. At New Moms, young moms, 24 and under, take powerful first steps toward economic mobility and family well-being. Our 2-Generation approach puts families experiencing poverty in control of their goals and unleashes their potential. New Moms’ headquarters is located on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. Our East Garfield Park location includes all Workforce Development programming as well as our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, which provides paid transitional jobs for young moms. We also have an office in Oak Park serving the near western suburbs.

About the Job:

This position is responsible for execution and management of sales strategy and business development for New Moms’ social enterprise, Bright Endeavors (BE). The Business Development Manager will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This position is located at Bright Endeavors in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Starting Salary: $55,000

Key Job Responsibilities:

Manage Pipeline of Inbound and Prospected Leads (50%)

  • Identify, research, and pursue wholesale account prospects
  • Utilize Salesforce Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) to optimize customer engagement
  • Submit sales orders to production and collaborate with the Operations and Production Coordinators to manage satisfactory fulfillment of critical account orders
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Engagement Manager to coordinate, manage, and attend occasional off-site sales events

Manage Customer Relationships (40%)

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing high quality customer service and proactive, responsive support
  • Perform supportive site visits for key retail partners
  • Strategically grow key accounts in accordance with BE’s enterprise growth strategy

Track and report monthly, quarterly, and annual sales data (5%)

  • Maintain CRM with current information
  • Track and report sales data to Social Enterprise Director and peer colleagues as required

Other (5%)

  • Collaborate with Bright Endeavors team to evaluate new product research & development, providing customer feedback and assessing market viability of new products
  • Upholds the New Moms model, which is grounded in racial equity
  • Regularly participate in agency and program staff meetings, as well as professional group seminars or conferences to enhance professional knowledge and job skills
  • Demonstrate basic achievement and is committed to developing further in each of the following competencies: Equity mindset, expertise in area of focus, communication, growth mindset, and ownership
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • More than two (2) years’ experience in sales, development, social enterprise, or a related field required

  • Strong history of sales, account management, or development success

  • Experience in B2B or Wholesale environments strongly preferred

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Google Suite, & basic website hosting & maintenance a plus

  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of individuals and companies

  • Strong oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and maintain organization within a fast- paced sales environment

  • Sound judgment and analytical ability, with ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

  • Valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance

  • Access to a car and/or ability to use public transportation required

COVID-19 Notice:

  • New Moms employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are not able to receive the vaccine for medical or religious reasons, you may seek approval for an exemption through the Director of HR.
  • This is an on-site position with a primary office at our Bright Endeavors (E Garfield Park) location. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which could include up to 3 days per week of remote work if requested. All staff are required to be in the office on Tuesdays, which is our company Core Day.
