ELEVATE is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Associate Director, Information Technology with a strong understanding of web and mobile applications and experience building and leading teams. This individual will play an important role in building and managing a team of IT resources that will drive the development and implementation of data-driven applications that will transform the way brands and retailers assess their supply chains and drive factory improvements. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the augmentation of a key IT product through gathering of requirements, feature design & mock-ups, MVP definition and negotiation with stakeholders, maintenance of Product backlog, preparation of future Sprints & releases and acceptance of stories. For other IT products, oversee the development, reviewing planned changes / proposed upcoming Sprints and ensuring adequate prioritization and alignment with organizational goals & policies.
- Act as an internal advocate for various IT products. Raise products knowledge and awareness through the rest of the organization and push for adoption of IT products. This may be done via training on new features (via bi-weekly demos, via release notes, via ad hoc trainings as needed), roll-out of new features (e.g. via pilots, releases) and ongoing user support (internal & external).
- Responsible for the maintenance of some IT products as it pertains to master data such as quarterly updates of country laws or synchronization between environments via the execution of SQL scripts.
- Proactively monitor data issues happening on IT products via a system of automated alerts, correcting those via SQL script and to avoid users experiencing issues.
- Contribute to the Agile life of various IT teams during various Agile ceremonies, including for the continuous adjustment and improvement to existing processes and ways of working
- Involved in the review, mapping and optimization of operational processes leading to the digitalization of said processes in various systems.
- Involved in various data related projects including around the definition and capture of new data points, for subsequent leveraging in other systems.
- Involved in systems integration including via the leveraging of third-party APIs or SSO.
- Coordinate the overall IT Products roadmap, liaising with various stakeholders and other Product Owners to coordinate the roll-out of various projects and initiatives
- Keep various stakeholders of the organization and upper management appraised of Product status and direction via regular meetings or ad hoc communication.
- Oversee and manage internal IT teams in various remote locations including for performance review and appraisals at various times of the year, or for career development
- Participate in the recruitment / interview process for various IT positions
- Participate in IT due diligence process informing M&A decisions, and participate in the various necessary activities resulting from M&A
- Involved in vendor management including licensing needs and pricing negotiations, as well as contractors management (feedback on performance etc).
Qualifications:
- Develop scalable, high-quality & high-performance web, desktop and mobile applications leveraging a varied tech stack including Ruby, node.js, REACT and more
- Experience with service-oriented architecture and cloud native applications (AWS, Azure)
- Expertise with SQL across a variety of Database technologies (Postgres, MSSQL)
- Practical knowledge of tools like GitLab for code repository or Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence)
- Understand UX/UI concepts and interface usability
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great team player, independent, strong sense of responsibility and self- motivated
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience designing and working with data driven applications, modern data visualizations tools and up to date on best practices
- Strong technical expertise and understanding of major software concepts, engineering background a plus
- Knowledge of CSR and social sustainability, supply chains, and human rights
Experience
- 5+ years of software development experience in a professional work environment for a startup or established high-tech software company
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing IT software development teams
