Principal Functions:
To perform the role of advocacy, lobbying and campaigning to influence the government, legislators, political party’s leaders and relevant stakeholders to support and or buy-in WWF’s positions on specific environmental and conservation issues that are of our concerns by:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
build and maintain relationships with policy- and decision makers in a professional manner;
respond to consultation paper such as the Chief Executive’s policy address, budget recommendation to the Financial Secretary, Legislative Council discussions etc; with insights, comments and suggestions;
prepare thoughtful tactic to maximise conservation outcomes in respond to meeting invitations from government departments, private and public sectors, and take lead in relevant engagement and preparation works;
organise actions to initiate and promote changes in policies and build public support;
deliver WWF HK’s position in specific environmental and conservation issues through media channels;
monitor government press release and the schedules of Legco meetings regularly and heads up relevant conservation team members when issues/topics of our concerns emerged;
administrate the team’s reporting and online and physical filling;
prepare annual budget projection and provide budget management for the team;
coordinate strong conservation team collaboration in achieving policy asks by coordinating extended policy team meetings;
assist the team to scrutinize and respond to proposals under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance and/or Town Planning Board Ordinance related to current and emerging development projects or programmes at ecologically sensitive areas when needed;
liaise with overseas WWF's network;
carry out any other duties that are assigned to you by your line manager.
Required Skills:
Required Behavioural Skills:
Proactive and tactical.
Good analytical and organizational ability to communicate research findings to a range of audiences, including scientific, Government, public audiences.
Knowledgeable in local and global conservation issues and current affairs in Hong Kong.
Candidate with less working experience will be considered for the position of Assistant Manager.
