At New Moms, young moms, 24 and under, take powerful first steps toward economic mobility and family well-being. Our 2-Generation approach puts families experiencing poverty in control of their goals and unleashes their potential. New Moms’ headquarters is located on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. Our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, which provides paid transitional jobs for young moms, is located nearby in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. We also have an office in Oak Park serving the near western suburbs.

About the Job:
This part-time (20 hours/week) position is responsible for providing support and coaching to participants in obtaining their High School Equivalency exams and other tutoring support for college success. It is expected that 50% of time will support Workforce Development participants and 50% to Housing and Family Support participants. The Adult Education coach will champion all New Moms values including our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in both strategic planning and performance. This position is located at our Oak Park office and spends significant time at our other locations in Austin and East Garfield Park. _(_Also see COVID-19 Modifications below).
Schedule: Two full workdays (8 hours, 8:30a-4:30p) and one half day (4 hours) are required. A full day on Monday is required to meet programmatic needs, and the other two days are negotiable upon hire_._
Starting Hourly Rate: $21.50 - $22.50/hour DOQ

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; in fields of Education, English, language arts, reading or related field preferred
Experience teaching Adult Education and/or vocational courses preferred
Working knowledge of Adult Education standards, pathways and assessments preferred
Strong digital and technology skills including Microsoft software applications preferred
Sound professional judgment and analytical ability
Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and deadlines concurrently
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team approach model, taking individual responsibility and autonomy while also working well as part of a team
Ability to work evening and weekend hours depending on needs of the program
Valid driver’s license, with safe driving record and valid insurance
Access to a car and/or ability to use public transportation required
