Summary
Solidarity Center seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to assist our Equality and Inclusion Department with a variety of clerical tasks, such as scheduling, expense reports, procurements, travel arrangements, and event planning. This individual will need strong communication and people skills in order to serve as a point of contact for other departments, preparing and exchanging information with them as needed. The Administrative Assistant must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining calm and poise. Experience with financial management, especially federal grant management, is an asset in this role.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, labor relations, or related fields and/or a minimum of three years of pertinent work experience
Basic knowledge of international relations issues
Good communication and writing skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Computer literacy for word processing and simple spreadsheets
Ability to work and interact easily with a wide variety of people
Experience with financial and/or grant management (preferred)
Experience with unions, labor rights, and/or social justice organizations (preferred)
Experience with non-governmental organizations (preferred)
Fluency in a foreign language (preferred)
Supervisor: Coordinator for Cross-Regional Programs and Learning
Specific Duties:
Maintain office calendar and travel and leave schedules
Manage logistics for meetings and conferences and visits from the field; prepare materials and set up conference rooms
Update databases maintained by the department
Perform basic research including internet searches and locating resource materials, prepare briefing documents
Proofread/edit proposals, reports, letters, and other correspondence
Make travel arrangements for department staff, consultants and visitors
Prepare check requests, wire transfer requests and travel expense reports
Coordinate activities with, and assist other departments as needed
Assist in preparation of budgets
Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as note taking, transcription, translation, finalization and production of documents, filing, faxing, drafting routine documents and phone calls

This is a collective bargaining unit position, generously compensated with a gross annual salary starting at approximately $64,300 USD based on experience.
